Nigeria’s Mobile Internet Frontier

Daniel Azike

In Nigeria, which has the largest internet population in Africa, mobile phones represent over 69% of internet hits. In the same country, 78% of netizens access the internet daily, spending an average of 1 hour to 3 hours online.

According to Terragon insights, the top search activities online in Nigeria include news, school/education, sports and job-search. Perhaps this should come as no surprise where in a population of over 170 million, the median age is 17 years old. Imagine the significance of such insights to online businesses across the country.
